History

J Hayden Perkins founded his agency in the early 30’s as J. Hayden Perkins Insurance.  In early 1955, Tim Minahen joined his father in law as an employee.   In 1965 Tim Minahen and Robert Carden joined Mr. Perkins as partners and the agency became Perkins, Carden and Minahen.  The agency continued to grow to become a top five agency in Vallejo.  Henry Thorpe of Thorpe Insurance Services joined Perkins Carden and Minahen in the early 70’s. 

Dan Donahue started his agency, Donahue Insurance Services, in 1988.  Kris Shirrell partnered with him in 1989 and the name changed to Donahue/Shirrell.   Jeanne Kilkenny- Turk joined Donahue/Shirrell in 1991.  Saint Hillyer merged his agency, Hillyer Insurance, into Donahue Shirrell in 1998.

In 2000, Perkins Carden and Minahen Inc., Thorpe Insurance Services, and Donahue Shirrell Inc. merged to create Vallejo Insurance Associates.  This unification created one of the largest independent insurance agencies in Solano County.
